Print-to-Web QR-Code Hintergrund

Printed apps or printed matter can now «use the telephone» – the new dimension in communications through the interaction of print and Internet

Under the aegis of the IRD knowledge institute (Germany), specialists and manufacturers have joined together to form a development and promotional association: print2web-alliance. The members are high-performance companies which already mastered the combination of print and digital media even before print2web came into existence.

What is print2web(P2W)? It is an entirely new application of technology combined with printed matter and Smartphones, facilitating even better, quicker and more effective communication: operations are always up to date and can be conducted immediately! With the help of new technologies, previous obstacles (media disruption) between offline and online media can be overcome. The traditional offline medium of print is reinventing itself through direct and interactive networking with the entire digital world. Smartphones, for example, provide additional optical and electronic elements. One-way communication becomes two-way communication.

The bridge between offline and online media is formed by the two-dimensional «QR code» (quick response) bar code. This code can contain e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, URL addresses, newspaper articles, booking details or nutritional information. With the help of the «QR reader» Smartphone application, this information can be accessed in a matter of seconds. Gone are the times when, for lotteries, the URL had to be entered into the computer first – you can even load interesting newspaper articles directly onto your Smartphone thanks to QR code.
